We Are Not Flock
The KamGard Watchtower is a private security camera rented to a single client. It is not a surveillance network, and it is not connected to law enforcement.
Why We Are Posting This
One of our camera systems was recently vandalized by a group of individuals who appear to have mistaken it for something it is not. The incident was captured on video and is being handled through the proper channels.
We would rather people know what our equipment actually does than guess at it. So here it is, plainly.
What The Watchtower Is
A private camera on a portable tower, rented to one client at a time.
A PTZ Camera On A Tower
A solar-powered pan-tilt-zoom camera mounted on a portable tower. No trenching, no wiring, no permanent installation.
Rented To Contracted Clients
We rent to specific clients under contract, including private builders, state parks, and county properties. It shows them their own site.
There To Deter Loss
It exists to deter theft, vandalism, illegal dumping, and the loss of construction materials and equipment. That is its entire job.
What The Watchtower Is Not
Stated plainly, so there is no guessing.
- It is not connected to a national surveillance database.
- It is not integrated with any government or law enforcement system.
- Law enforcement does not have direct access to our cameras.
- It is not a public surveillance system. It is not deployed to watch highways, roads, intersections, parking lots, or neighboring property.
- No one at KamGard sits and watches a client site. A client sees live video only when they choose to connect, or when an event notification reaches their phone.
Who Can See The Video
Each system is closed. It belongs to the client renting it, and to no one else.
Exclusive To One Client
Each camera is exclusive to the client renting the system. We do not allow any outside interface, and we do not permit any other party to access it.
Nothing Shared Without Permission
We do not share anything from a client system without that client's explicit permission. That applies to everyone, including law enforcement.
Even We Need Permission
KamGard staff must have the client's explicit permission to access their cameras or recordings. Searching or modifying a client's video is not our role.
Three Things We Want To Be Clear About
The parts people ask about, answered straight rather than skipped.
License plates and faces
The standard Watchtower does not include license-plate recognition or facial recognition. Neither one ships with the system. A client with that specific need has to request it, and meeting it means changing the camera hardware on their site. It is not something running quietly on every tower.
What falls in the frame
Cameras are aimed at construction areas and at site entrances and exits. A public road or sidewalk may sometimes fall within the frame. That is incidental to covering the client's property, not the reason the camera is there.
How long video is kept
Video is typically held about 14 days and then overwritten, oldest first. That window can vary where one camera sees far more activity than another.
The Difference
Two different systems, built for two different jobs.
Flock Safety
A camera system marketed to law enforcement agencies for license-plate capture, networked to help police detect and solve crimes.
KamGard Watchtower
Privately owned equipment rented to one client, showing that client their own property. Nothing we do interfaces directly with government or law enforcement organizations.
